"Is There Such A Thing As Good Bragging?"
Ballroom
9:45-10:15 AM

Henna Pryor, PCC is a dynamic Workplace Performance Expert who speaks and writes about performance mindset, interpersonal dynamics, high-impact communication, and embracing bumps in a world that keeps optimizing for smoothness.

As ambitious professionals in a hybrid world, we need to share our wins to be viewed as competent at work, but the world has convinced us that bragging is bad. But is ALL bragging bad? And is there such a thing as "Good Bragging?" As it turns out, research tells us there is... and we need to be doing it to maximize our professional success. We've learned long-term success comes from being seen as both competent AND likable by others, so to meet our big goals, we need to learn how to be a Good Bragger -- and activate a new approach that achieves both. In her keynote, Henna will teach us the new way to brag in the modern world - and feel good doing it.

This workshop is for established professionals looking to intentionally grow and evolve in their careers.  In this session, speaker Danette Conley will challenge participants to reflect on the evolution of their careers and define themselves not only by what they have done but also by how they get things done, who they have become, and the fundamental values that drive them.  Beyond identifying technical skills and expertise, participants will explore their leadership and communication styles and, most importantly, their vision for the future.  The session's goal is to have participants learn from their entangled career past and clarify what they want from their careers in the future.  Participants will leave with tangible takeaways and a "call to action" to set their expectations as to what a successful career looks like for them.

1:15-2:15 PM

Women today have more opportunities than ever, but we still see women leave STEM careers, never to return as they continue to struggle to be heard and have their contributions respected. All this while juggling the responsibilities of family and home with their career. Women STEM Leaders share their own advice, experience, and thoughts on making choices and building alliances to make the most of those opportunities. Pearl Pugh, president of neuroscience at Johnson & Johnson, and Lo Li Carper, managing vice president of Capital One, join Henna Pryor for an engaging fireside chat to provide valuable insights on their leadership development journeys.

Researchers from across the world have conducted hundreds of studies on this topic, and policies have been put into place to help level the playing field. But has there been any progress? What works and what doesn’t work? Salary negotiation has been identified as a potential solution to address the gender pay gap, but how? In this session, Dr. Sleesman  will share his research and the state of the science on this important topic.
