Inspiring Women in STEM Conference Showcases Blockbuster Lineup in 2021

WILMINGTON (September 7, 2021) – The marquee leadership program for female STEM professionals in Delaware is returning this fall with an unprecedented lineup of global science executives, best-selling authors and a diverse group of Delaware STEM leaders drawn from academia, industry and the nonprofit sector.
The Inspiring Women in STEM (IWSTEM) Conference will take place October 14, as a half-day virtual conference presented by the Delaware BioScience Association. This is the conference’s ninth year, following IWSTEM’s most successful event in 2019. The conference did not take place in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Founded in 2013, IWSTEM is the leading professional development and networking event in Delaware designed to encourage, support and inspire women in all aspects of STEM in their professional lives – including industrial and government scientists and engineers, academic researchers, STEM educators, college students, and entrepreneurs.
This year’s program will feature a Fireside Chat with STEM leaders, Dr. Michelle-McMurry-Heath, President & CEO, Biotechnology Innovation Organization, Dr. Katharine Knobil, Chief Medical Officer, Agilent and Peggy Scherle, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer, Prelude Therapeutics. Additional speakers include NY Times best-selling author and international women’s leadership expert Gloria Feldt and Michelle Washington, founder and CEO of Women of MORE. Attendees will receive a copy of Feldt’s new book Intentioning: Sex, Power, Pandemics and How Women Will Take The Lead.
A highlight of the event will be mentoring sessions hosted by more than a dozen Delaware female STEM leaders. Complete program details are below along with information on tickets.
