Delaware Bio invites you to our May BioBriefing on Wednesday, May 27. A thriving life science industry requires diverse, dependable and affordable energy -- join us virtually, Wednesday May 27 at 2:00pm for a discussion with Marcus Beal, Delmarva Power Region President, to learn more about the regional energy market, utility rates and the future expectations of power needs in the First State. Beal will provide an overview of the current landscape and answer your questions.

Following the energy discussion we’ll cover updates on some key Delaware Bio priorities.

Marcus L. Beal Jr.
Region President of Delmarva Power
Pepco Holdings, an Exelon Company

Marcus Beal is vice president of Governmental and External Affairs and regional president for Delmarva Power, a subsidiary of Pepco Holdings. Beal leads the company’s external affairs and stakeholder engagement strategy, working closely with elected officials, business leaders, and community partners. This includes the advancement of customer-centric initiatives and fostering collaboration to support reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy for all customers. Beal has nearly 20 years of experience, having built a distinguished career at Pepco Holdings. He began his professional career as an intern and advanced through leadership roles in Information Technology, Power Delivery, Corporate Communications, and Regulatory Compliance. Most recently, he served as director of External Affairs for Delmarva Power, where he cultivated strong relationships with elected officials, agency leaders, and community stakeholders.

Civic Involvement

Beal is President of the PHI Community Foundation and serves on the boards of the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce, Delaware State Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors, the Greater Salisbury Committee's Executive Committee, the Riverfront Wilmington Business Improvement District, the Maryland–District of Columbia Utilities Association, Wor-Wic College, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Business Advisory Board.

Education

Beal earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Delaware. His academic foundation has supported his strategic insight and operational expertise, enabling him to lead complex initiatives that enhance reliability, strengthen operations, and promote transparent communication with customers and partners.

Registration Policy

The “Non-Member” rate is for those who very occasionally attend our events (no more than two events) or for those who are evaluating whether they wish to join Delaware Bio. This is not intended for individuals who attend every event in a series. If you fall into this category, we ask that you join the organization. Information about membership can be found by contacting us at  info@delawarebio.org.

Please note that Delaware Bio is a member-supported organization, preference is given to our members. If an event becomes sold out and you are registered as a non-member, we reserve the right to cancel your registration and refund your payment. If you are retired and wish to attend BioBreakfast, we ask that you join the organization as a member, at our new, discounted retired membership level.

When registering please use your company email address, so we can verify membership (if applicable). Registration for our virtual events will end 24-hours before the event is set to begin to ensure you receive the proper communication to join the event. Please register in advance, as it may fill up quickly. Thank you!

Refund Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing, via email to Delaware Bio more than one (1) week prior to the event to receive a refund minus 25% for registration/administrative costs. If the cancellation is made within one week of the event or the attendee is a no-show, Delaware Bio will not issue a refund. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Delaware Bio.
