Delaware BioScience Association Names New Board Members

– Organization reelects three, pays tribute to departing longstanding leader –
WILMINGTON (November 16, 2021) – The Delaware BioScience Association (Delaware Bio) announced the election of two new members of its board of directors, Nikkia Squires of ChristianaCare and Dr. Alex D. Meredith of Delaware State University (DSU).
Squires currently serves as Senior Counsel at Christiana Care Health System where she concentrates her practice on healthcare information technology, data privacy, innovation, and related matters. Squires has over fifteen years of experience in a wide range of health care regulatory and transactional legal matters. The majority of her career has been dedicated to working in state government and nonprofit health care system roles.

Dr. Meredith is director of the Office of Student Engagement with DSU’s College of Agriculture, Science and Technology (CAST) as well as program director of the school’s 1890 Agricultural Scholarship Program. A Dover native, Meredith is a DSU graduate who has worked to recruit, retain, and professionally develop underrepresented populations to meet the demands of a 21st century STEAM workforce.

Delaware Bio also announced the reelection of three directors: Izak Bahar – Vice President, R&D Assay Development at Siemens Healthineers, Ben Hsu – Chief Administrative Officer at QPS Holdings, and Ray Yin – President at ANP Technologies.
In addition to the board updates, board Chair Chris Yochim acknowledged the impending departure of longtime board and executive committee member Fran DiNuzzo, who recently announced his retirement as CEO of ILC Dover.
“We are thrilled to welcome Nikkia and Alex to the board and look forward to benefiting from their energy, intellect and perspective as we continue to expand our community outreach and engagement,” said Yochim. “I also thank Izak, Ben and Ray for their continued service and want to particularly acknowledge Fran’s years of contribution to the organization and the broader life science ecosystem in Delaware. Fran has been an extraordinary leader and mentor to so many – we wish him and his wife Gail all the best as they pursue new adventures together.”
“Fran DiNuzzo has been an exemplary business leader in the life sciences industry and more in Delaware,” said Delaware Bio executive committee member Mike Bowman. “His shared management experiences with Delaware Bio gained from large corporations, smaller growth companies and private equity have been extremely valuable. He will be missed.”

More about Nikkia Squires Prior to joining the Christiana Care team in 2016, Nikkia served as an attorney at Duke University Health System and the North Carolina State Health Plan. Nikkia is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, Association of Corporate Counsel, and American Bar Association. Originally from North Carolina, Nikkia holds an undergraduate degree from North Carolina A&T State University and a law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law.
More about Alex D. Meredith Dr. Alex D. Meredith started his career in instruction, recruitment, and advisement for the College of Agriculture, Science, and Technology at Delaware State University. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Agriculture Business from Delaware State University, his Masters’ of Science Degree in Plant and Soil Science with an emphasis in Agricultural Education at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and recently completed his doctoral studies in educational leadership at DSU. In this new role at DSU, his vision is to enhance every Delaware State University student’s academic and professional acumen in preparation for any gainful employment or advanced studies of their choosing after degree completion. Dr. Meredith resides in Wilmington, Delaware.
