Delaware Life Science Professionals

The Delaware Biotechnology Institute is home to a number of shared use high end instrumentation facilities that are available to faculty, students, and industrial investigators from around Delaware. The available facilities include DNA sequencing, genome sequencing, mass spectrometry and proteomics, a 3D visualization studio ("The CAVE"), and molecular and cellular bioimaging.

THE CAVE

THE CAVE:

The CAVE, housed in the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, enables doctors and researchers to use advanced computer-aided 3D imaging to better understand through immersed visualization, procedures and processes that may be undertaken to further science and improve individual outcomes in human health.

BIOIMAGING CENTER

BIOIMAGING CENTER:

The University of Delaware Bioimaging Center provides microscopy support for members of the University, their collaborators and industrial researchers, as well as providing extensive instrumentation training. The staff at the center actively develops and maintains a wide range of state-of-the-art microscopes including atomic, confocal, electron and light microscopes, making it possible to address the needs of researchers using the center. Staff are available to advise researchers on which instrument is the most suitable for their needs with consultation time on sample preparation, labeling and instrumentation usage. Researchers using the facilities are trained in microscopy usage as well as image acquisition software. Research performed within the center can also be performed on a collaborative basis with the members of our staff.
