Siemens Launches syngo Lab Data Manager: A Complete Data Management Solution

Tarrytown, NY, September 19, 2011— Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics introduces its latest innovation in clinical laboratory IT, syngo® Lab Data Manager, a robust, reliable data management system designed to grow with the laboratory while driving increased efficiencies across the lab environment. Managing a wide range of pre-analytic and post-analytic functions, syngo Lab Data Manager helps accelerate turnaround times, improves quality and delivers seamless connectivity of instruments to the laboratory information system (LIS), automation and remote services.

Today’s fast-paced clinical laboratories – striving to meet the needs of clinicians who depend daily on accurate information from clinical diagnostic tests – are continually challenged to increase efficiency, improve productivity, and do more with less. This is a difficult proposition when many lab professionals still rely heavily on manual processes and must continually deal with data from different, disconnected IT systems. syngo Lab Data Manager helps laboratories overcome challenges caused by limited functionality and lack of integration among today’s lab IT products by combining applications that bring the latest technologies in device management, quality control (QC) and connectivity.

Specifically, syngo Lab Data Manager is designed to help laboratories handle increasing testing volumes and expanding workload capacity and includes:
• Autoverification enables users to focus only on results that truly need further examination
• Integrated Quality Control ensures high quality results reporting through automated Westgard and customizable rules, as well as real-time patient median statistical analysis
• Remote connectivity to the Siemens data center helps enhance system uptime

“Clinicians need high quality testing performed with fast turnaround times to diagnose a patient’s condition in a timely manner,” said Anthony Rizzardi, Laboratory Administrative Director at Hazleton General Hospital, Hazleton, PA, which completed installation of syngo Lab Data Manager in March 2011. “syngo gives our laboratory the ability to oversee and control workflow, allowing us to generate high quality testing in the fastest time possible. It allows us to better manage our laboratory.”

“Siemens recognizes the need to develop new clinical diagnostics IT tools that can do more to help today’s laboratorians meet the multiple challenges of cost containment, quality of care, increasing workload and staff recruitment and retention,“ said Eric Olson, Vice President, Informatics & Automation, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. “We are proud to report that syngo Lab Data Manager is designed to grow with the lab ─ so our customers can realize the best return on investment possible.”
