Delaware Bio Members Showcase Technology/Services and Raise Money for Junior Achievement's Newest Program
NEWARK, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The first Delaware Bio Member Showcase hosted at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute in Newark, Delaware on December 7, 2009 brought together over 110 professionals from 75 different organizations sharing technologies, contacts, ideas and services and raised funds to support the Junior Achievement of Delaware's Innovation Hub that is nearing completion.
Organized by the Delaware Bioscience Association, Bob Dayton, president of Delaware Bio commented, "The evening did everything we hoped it would...giving bioscience companies and our service companies a chance to get to know each other better and raising funds for a great cause in a great appropriate setting at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute with the support from our partner VWR." VWR is Delaware Bio's partner providing lab supplies to members and support for all Delaware Bio events.
The evening used a tradeshow format to feature technology and services coupled with a silent auction and raffle to round out the program. Net proceeds from the evening will go to Junior Achievement of Delaware's Innovation Hub due to open in early 2010."VWR is excited to be the sponsor for the Member Showcase and supports the growth of members in the Delaware bioscience community," stated Steve Goodman, regional vice president for VWR.
"Local companies are having a global impact," says Junior Achievement of Delaware president Rob Eppes, "and we want to show young people how they can change the world from right here in Delaware." The Junior Achievement Innovation Hub, now under development, has plans to reach 10,000 students annually with interactive technology wired to excite them about career options in the region's growth industries, such as the biosciences.
